El Salvador has a wide range of hotels to choose from. Below are the major hotels in the capital, San Salvador. Listed on the left are the smaller hotels, ocean resorts, and mountain inns. Don't be surprised by the lower prices especially outside of the capital. El Salvador's tourism is still young and has not caught up with the rest of the heavily traveled vacation spots. So take advantage of these great rates.

I live in Chicago but am part El Salvadoran. My family tried for years to get me to take a trip there but I had always heard things to the effect that it was a dangerous place. Well I just got back from El Salvador about 6 months ago, and I instantly fell in love with the warm people and amazing scenery. I asked some natives about the war and everyone I talked to told me it ended 15 years ago and they are now excited to show off their country. Never once did I feel in danger. The people were so warm and welcoming and I felt like everyone was family. I actually did the zip-lining mentioned on the site and it was awesome!! The guides take you to a dense plush forest and harness you to a cable and then its time to fly. You whiz in and out of trees to the next cable until finally you get to the longest and most thrilling cable. And the beaches, amazing!!! I went to a small black volcanic beach on my third day, the black soft sand was beautiful. Im so excited to go back and use some of the info i got from your site. Thank you for drawing some much needed attention to this beautiful country. The best thing about this country is you can experience a true country not a tourist resort, filled with vacationers and tacky souvenirs. I'll let you know how my trip back went.
